Explosions in the Sky
02 Jun 2009 03:57 by don
Explosions in the Sky, the band who's songs are featured quite often on Friday Night Lights, apparently have NEVER watched the show! In a recent Spinner.com article, the band talks about their busy schedule while also admitting they have never actually watch FNL! Well, their music sets the mood in every episode. I just hope it continues to be used... even though they're totally missing out!

Friday Night Lights Season 4... and 5?
15 Mar 2009 19:57 by don
There are rumors that FNL could be picked up for two more seasons. The success of airing FNL on Direct TV last fall provided a much needed "third quarter" comeback. The deal between Direct TV and NBC would not only include a 4ths season, but a 5th season-- overtime! [source:ew]

FNL's Minka Kelly and Yankee's shortstop Derek Jeter have been spending a lot of time together. The two were most recently spotted at a Texas Longhorn football game. More info to come as the facts become more concrete.

Great Episode!

Episode 303, "Hello Good Bye", aired tonight 10/15/08 on Direct TV and it sure was a good one! For a quick recap check the see the Friday Night Lights Episodes section.

My favorite highlights from the episode were Smash getting offered a district manager job, and the mirror image run Saracen made for the Texas State Championship two years ago which this time fell short to the Arnett Mead Tigers. Talk more about this episode in the Friday Night Lights Forums section.

There were also some great quotes and music in this episode to help enhance the drama. The final song was "Bixby Canyon Bridge" by Death Cab for Cutie. If you loved the song and are not familiar with Death Cab you should check them out, they have a lot of hits and tend to be popular amongst college students. Don't forget YOU can Add Friday Night Lights Music and Friday Night Lights Quotes in their respected sections on this site. Check out both for new entries.

Direct TV Trivia
09 Oct 2008 05:42 by don
Before tonight's episode of FNL I noticed a message on my TV prompting to hit the red button on my remote to take a FNL quiz. I got all 5 questions right. I do not remember all the questions and options but here were two of them:
-What does coach say before every game?
-Who was scared to visit Jason in the hospital after his injury?

Look for the trivia message next time you watch FNL on Direct TV.

Tami Knows Best
09 Oct 2008 05:32 by don
The second episode of FNL aired tonight on Direct TV channel 101. It was obvious that FNL is sponsored by many entities. What kind of car do you want Julie? CELICA. A Celica? A Toyota Celica? You are working where Julie? APPLEBEES. Smash has a walk on opportunity where? Texas A&M... not some made up university. I think its clear that the show is forced to accept all the advertisement it can get. I would keep an eye out for similar tactics this season. It's unfortunate because the advertising is so clear that it takes away from the show; one begins to realize that is just that-- a show! Read more about the show here at the Friday Night Lights Episode page.

Season 3 Premier
03 Oct 2008 16:24 by don
Friday Night Lights is back for its 3rd season and again, there have been major tweaks to the plot. To start off Tim Riggins is still a senior. Many may ask the question, "wasn't he Jason Streets best friend in the first season?" Yes he was, and his talk about "Texas Forever" made it appear they were both about to embark on the rest of their live; i.e., graduating and entering the real world. Another common theme as reappeared with a quarterback controversy involving Matt and new freshman J.D. McCoy. Matt may loose this QB job but it looks like he'll win Julie Taylor's heart. The camera work was also more jittery than last season, as if the crew was using home-video-cameras. The Taylor's have once again added more stress to their situation. Taking a step back the Taylor's have a baby, Tami is now principal, coach's job is in trouble, Julie wants a car... did a mention a baby? Each season I have witnessed "Lights" do weird stuff in the first few episodes; however, the always come through in delivering once the plot, no matter how believable, is established. Lets all hope the trend continues. Talk more about these ideas with other FNL fans in the Friday Night Lights Forum.
