Panthers - Football

In order for the Panthers to make the playoffs they must wait on the game outcome between Buckley and Arnett Mead. The town also waits, preys, and wonders the preceding days of the game. Grandma (Loraine Saracen) even talks heavily about the game along with her own game schemes.

Matt's dad, in midst of all the recent tension, decides not to go back to Iraq and rather stay and help out Matt and Grandma. Matt's talks Buddy Garrity at the car lot in hopes of finding his dad a job. Buddy tells Matt not to worry and provides Mr. Saracen with a sales job. Mr. Saracen continues having difficulty adjusting to civilian life as well as the car lot. Matt eventually confronts his father on him staying. Matt tells him he understands if wants (needs) to go back to Iraq, and says he'll be fine with grandma who has shown improvement.

Coach Taylor gets served in regards to Jason Street's lawsuit. Tami is shocked and comments how he basically raised Jason. Coach Taylor, also dumbfounded, is more reserved about the situation and comments how this is way the world is these days. Coach Taylor visits Mitch, Jason's Dad, at work. He tells coach the family needs help paying for Jason's bills. The conversation goes nowhere, and Mr. Street tells Coach to get the hell out!

The following day Jason goes to the local corner store where the owner, who Jason knows well, basically ignores him. Jason then sees the newspaper where his picture and lawsuit article head the paper. Extremely mad, Jason bolts home and confronts his parents. Jason and Lyla

An awkward moment occurred at the Rodeo and Fair when Jason (with Lyla) and Coach Taylor make eye contact from 20 feet away. The just stare at each other and Jason eventually turns away. Jason goes to the school and tells Coach that he will always be his coach and the lawsuit was not his idea and he tried to fight against it.

Tyra deals with her mom and her mom's sexist boyfriend. The boyfriend makes sexist comments to the mom and Tyra and also expects the mom to be a servant. One night the mom and boyfriend have a fight and he hits the mom. Tyra grabs a knife and runs after the boyfriend who eventually leaves. Tyra tells her mom if she takes the boyfriend back she will move out. The boyfriend later tried to apologize to the mom which she did not accept.

Julie remains focused and concerned with Matt and his situation. She even tells her parents (Coach and Tami) that they are the best parents in the world!

Smash continues to pursue the new girl also his long lost childhood friend; however, She can not stand Smash's personality which Smash admits, he loves himself. Smash gets Matt and Julie to lie to the girl in order to make her believe Smash attends musicals and shows with them-- which she then finds out was all a lie.

Smash wins the fair's arm wrestling contest. Buckley beats Arnett Mead and the Panthers are in the playoffs!
