Not sure how valid this is or if it will come about but here is some hopeful news for FNL fans
http://tv.yahoo.com/show/38958/news/urn:newsml:eonlinekristen.com ... I am not sure I am gettin that premise where NBC may possibly show the first run and then sell the show to some cable networks to show re-runs. The show obviously isn't financially successful for NBC so I'm not sure I'm gettin their strategy on selling the show to other networks and letting them cash in on it (I could if FNL was a more successful program). FNL already has a solidified fan base (meaning all the people who are going to be interested in it probably already are watching it). So all I could see this doing is taking even more ratings away from the NBC viewing and making it even more unsuccessful for NBC. I think NBC would be best at just wiping their hands clean of the program and selling it to a cable network altogether (as FNL is just not able to compete at the big network primetime level). |

| The thing that I think is a little odd with this deal is that people who have cable will obviously have NBC available to them. So chances are this plan will not bring anymore viewers in it would just take more viewers away from NBC. | ||

Not really Darcy. Season 2 left alot to be desired.
The show became very juvenilish in the second year. If it wants to continue on it needs to become a little more well rounded. All this teeny bopper mess isn't going to keep it going. |

| Yeah, you've got to admit though lastcat, even Dillon 90210 is better than most of the dreck out there - I mean, "Moment of Truth?" "The Ghost Whisperer?" "Supernanny?" There's a lot of really, really bad TV out there. FNL had its moments of excellence and its moments of pure cheese. But on the whole, it's ALWAYS been better than Law & Order: Sex and Violence. In my humble opinion anyway... | ||

I agree with PRguy. Dude...how much of Deal or No Deal can a person take??? I am sick of reality television and game shows! ¡Ay carramba! I have been watching Spanish television as of late so I don't forget all the español I learned for the past two semesters.
There are a number of websites dedicated to saving the show. That makes me hopeful and excited. I know season two wasn't nearly up to par with season one but hey, if that means the show gained more viewers...well, i can deal with that. one of the things i can't deal with is bonehead girlie girls obsessed with the hotness of riggins as opposed to the fact that he's a great character. i mean, c'mon chicas...with that mindset, y'all are setting us women back. get it together! |

I don't like game shows or most reality tv either. But you do have to admit they do have a big step on serialized dramas in one major category. Each show every week will usually be a complete story (they generally don't leave you hanging). And because of that if you miss an episode or two you can pick up again right away. Where as if you miss an episode or two in a serialized show you won't know what the hey is going on.
And Alias it is really FNL's own fault that teenage fan girls became it's main audience corps. That is exactly what it is asking for when it chooses to go the teeny bopper route. If it put a few more mature themes in there than all those teeny boppers will go away because the mature themes is not what they are looking for. |

| I know that FNL is responsible for exhibiting that. However, it is up to teenage fan girls to think with their brain and not with something else. Although, yes, when I was a teenager I had my fair share of "OMG, he's so hot!" moments. However, when I was a teenager, I loved great shows like Felicity, Everwood, the Practice, Ally McBeal, Alias, etc. They were fantastic. I was also among the few in my school who watched those shows. I distinctly remember talking to only ONE person about Alias because she was the only other person I knew who watched it. Despite the fact that FNL, in a sense, prostituted itself for ratings, teenage fan girls have a choice as to whether or not they divulge into it or not. So, I guess I'm just disappointed in my fellow females for regressing. | ||

| So, to add to that thought, it's a catch-22. The quality of the show was compromised to get more ratings which satisfied the faulty character of teenage fan girls, which ultimately resulted in acquiring a few more fans. I read an article that said season one had 6.1 million viewers and in season two, 6.2 million. I know, not a big whooping jump in the numbers but a few more fans. So, if the, hopefully, temporary fit of bad quality FNL in an odd sense helped the show to get to season three, i can live with that. It just makes me think of all the great actors out there who, at times, had to endure working with awful material so they can pay the rent and to build up their resume. I suppose season two represented that sort of stage. As an artistic person myself (I am pursuing a writing career), all criticism aside, I understand that the writer's were in a tough position. Besides, when you're creative, you take risks and once you do, you can't hold back on them. So, given the short time they had to actually get the writing done (and like you mentioned before, the writer's probably didn't expect a second season) in time to get production going...well, I don't know, season two happens. I'm sure the dvd for season two will explain this and that. The actors are aware that the fans from season one have issues with season two...so, we'll see what happens. | ||

Does anyone think selling Friday Night Lights to DirecTV will drive fans to download it illegally?
